A friend has this bayonet. He stopped by today to show it to me. Excellent condition. Markings indicate maybe 1944. Appears German writing on it. See pictures. Sheath numbers do not match the serial number on knife. Also what would be value. 15” long with wooden handle.

Thanks,

Can't identify the bayonet. The stamping
appears to be cyrillic, so my guess is Russian.

If I’m not mistaken it’s a K98 Mauser Bayonet - a Yugoslav 1944
You should be able to research values on line using that info - but likely $75 to $100.
There was a bunch of these surplus on the market 20-30 years ago. It doesn’t have the leather frog to hang the scabbard from the belt.

Yugoslav bayonet made in Factory 44. It's probably from the 50s made for the Yugo M48 and 24/47 rifles. I'll see if I can find the one I got with my Yugo 24/47 to compare.

The sharp edge wear greatly reduces "Collector Value".

When I was a kid we used over sharpened and slightly bent bayonets as toys to hunt ground hogs with. Let the dogs drag them out and then stick them with the bayonet. (Great way to spend a summer day when you're 12, and don't have a swimming pool pass!)
