My father recently passed away and I inherited the pistol he kept in the closet, probably not fired in 30+ years ...

The revolver is 120 +/- years old. So how long has it been in your late father's possession? Like we heard all the time; if a gun can talk, what stories will it tell?

A couple of other specimens of the OP's model (.38 M&P/Model of 1905, first change) are known with six-digit serial numbers near this one (that is, 100xxx). One is reported to have shipped in June 1907.

I have 102653, which also shipped in June 1907. The specifics are thin, but I think the revolver in the top post is likely to have shipped in the first half of 1907.
