Does the grip saftey return after being depressed? The hammer strut my be trapped under the grip saftey instead of in the grip safety channel. You wouldn't think it's possible, but I've seen it once before.

Did you remove the sear spring? It may not be installed correctly.

Maybe one our 1911 experts have a better idea.:(

If any doubt, have a gunsmith look at it.

LF;

It is most likely the new main spring housing you installed.
When installed it is already depressing the safety at the bottom where the housing meets the grip safety(right in the middle of the back of the pistol).

You will need to take some material off the new housing so it does not push the safety in as far as it is doing right now.
Or get a different housing.

Take the new housing back out and match it up excactly to the old housing and you should be able to see the difference.

A lot of parts are not plug and play, they need to be fitted.

Good luck

I just reinstalled old main spring housing, everything works ok now, What do i need to do to get the new SS housing to work thanks tom

LF;

To be straight forward, I am not comfortable in describing to you how to refit a "safety" part.

Just glad to help you out in your initial problem.

Someone else may come along and give you direction.

You may be able to figure it out.
Reread my last post.

At least you have a functional and safe pistol again.

I do not mean to come off as rude, but to many liabilities in this day and age to suit me.
