Not to highjack TANKDVR50's thread, but I have a different problem concerning slings. My 15-22 is equippted with a Leapers UTG 3-12X44 mm SWAT MIL-DOT scope and a Mako Fore-Grip/Bi-Pod combo (T-POD62). The rifle weighs a little over 6 lbs. and when not shooting from a bench, I would like to be able to shoot or plink from a standing position. However due to the weight of the rifle I need some help keeping it supported, hence comes the question of what would be the right sling and mounts to install? I would be keeping the Fore-Grip installed for stability purposes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Here is a pic. of my rig. :D

with a good shoulder weld and firm hold on the front grip it shouldn't be too bad... sounds like you need a few foot tall monopod to brace it to the ground while standing.

In my experience, a sling helps more with grip than with steadiness. You will have to try one that looks likely and see if it helps in your situation.

It's not about the rifle--it's about you. That thing is a feather compared to a Garand in offhand. Take a course, get some coaching, or at least read up a little about position shooting. (Maybe there's an NRA rifle course or Appleseed course near you.)

The cruel truth is that other than those options or joining the Marines rifle marksmanship just isn't taught anymore.

There aren't really any shortcuts, and there's no such thing as a free lunch.

the scouts still teach kids to shoot. i clearly remember shooting 3 shot groups the size of a quarter to get a badge with a bolt action 22 (i think these days they use the 10/22)... although if you are over 18 you are out of luck there (explorer post maybe).

Mabey I could help, try a traditional sling(attaches to buttstock and where front sight post is),while I was active every year for rifle qual one of the requirements was standing and we were taught to use a hasty sling, kinda hard to describe, try youtubing it,I was 3rd award expert and it worked well for me.....

I just posted this in the other thread. You can keep the stuff you have on, just put the sling on the side.
There is no substitute for practice. I used to shoot my M-60 standing up offhand. Now that is a heavy pig.
You can get a picatinny mount QD sling swivel stud like this http://www.shootersridge.com/products/tactical/picatinnyslingadaptor.aspx
and my M4 Style Collapsible Stock QD Sling Stud M4 Style Collapsible Stock QD Sling Stud http://www.tacticool22.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6&products_id=16
and use any standard sling with QD swivels
