I purchased a 4596 with the rounded trigger guard and looking for any help I can obtain on additional information. Does anyone have info on where to find ANY background on this pistol ?
E mails to Lew Horton have directed me to S&W.
Two e-mails to S&W have received no replies.
Any assistance at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx,
the Capt'n.

According to the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, the Model 4596 has the 4506-1 frame with a 4516-1 slide, Lew Horton Special. Novak-Lo-Mount fixed sights. 3 3/4"bbl, product code 104490, manufactured 1990. Not much else listed for this model.

Anyone know a contact, or Department I should ask for? Any special number or the one listed on their website?
Thanx,
the Capt'n.

S&W doesn't have much info on production numbers and such available over the phone. Other than just watching what's showing up out there you can get a letter for gun, it runs $25. But other than when it was made and how maney it won't give you much more info. The SCSW says they were made on 4506-1 frames so they should have been round guards, but we see they came with square. Full size frame with a short slide, I don't think there is any more to it than that.
