I'm a new member and need help with a set of grips I just picked up. First I am a retired LEO, past PPC shooter and general Smith enthusiast who has gotten really bitten by the bug the last few months. I picked up a rough set of early Farrant's awhile back and took an interest in them.

These grips are Farrant like, but I make no claim that they are Farrant or any of the several LA grip makers work. They are rosewood I believe, have a palm swell on the right side only and have an overall narrow, thin profile. No plug on the right side but very deep hole and the screw is too long. My last speculation purchased turned out to be Custom Wood Inc. Combat Grips I believe. Those were like a little football.

Any help would be appreciated.

They look like they could be Fuzzy Farrant's work.

The stock alignment pin looks to be in the wrong place. Neat stocks to be sure.

Can't help with the grips but since this the new member introduction section....welcome from Ohio!

Welcome aboard!

No clue about those stocks but I have an unidentified set with similar color:

They look like the work of Farrant, but the screw hole looks to be the opposite of the typical Farrant grips where the screw head is on the right side and the nut (left) side is hidden with a wood plug to hide the screw hole.

I can't say they aren't reworked, but nothing about them looks machined other than the use of a Router. The profile of the top two finger grooves are almost identical to the ones on my early Farrant's (they have the frame cut). The screw goes in on the left side into the right and yes there is no plug or is missing. The right screw hole is deep and super sharp edged. The grips are well worn and were soaked and caked with oil. Maybe wishful thinking but I would think the hole would show some damage if exposed for life of grips. the screw that is with the grips would punch out any plug. They would be on my 19-3 if they fit, they are super comfortable. Thanks for all the input.

Moosedog might be correct. I found a set of Rosewood Mustangs that had the same rounded shape on the top of the right grip and the color was spot on. Single palm didn't match nor the slim finger-grips but that round shape on the right grip isn't typical Farrant I don't believe.
