I need to know what I have found. It appears to be a .38 M&P 4th change. Serial # 5736XX, nickel. 4" with smooth magnas/black washers. The grips aren't marked to the gun. There is no 'N' stamped on the frame. It's a 5 screw. It looks just like the 3rd model on page 137 of the SWSC. It has the early style hammer and .38 Special CTG on the barrel. Also, it is a square butt frame. The finish is maybe 75% to 85%. I can get it for $275 OTD, maybe less. What do you think?

By that serial number, its about a 1927-ish 1905 4th change. The grips are
post-WW2. Its a very common gun, although the nickel finish is, by far, the
lesser production. Most were blue. However, in this gun, the nickel does not
add much, if anything, to its value, primarily because of its mediocre condition.

The gun has little value as a collectible, so its primarily a shooter. I don't
think its worth more than $200 ; there are just too many 1905 4th change guns.
