I paid $700 for my TRS0666, new, back in '06. I found another, used, in '08 for $600. A new one, now, at $600 is very reasonable.
You won't regret buying it. For lack of use, be sure that the rebound spring slide is, still, nicely polished and the internals are clean. I use a Brownell's/Wolff beaded (ribbed) mainspring but they are not modified in any other way.
My Thunder Ranch revolvers are the absolute smoothest of the 23 Smiths I currently own. They aren't all that much heavier than my 66s. I use one when I'm concerned about what might go wrong on the job, rather than my usual 66. They just pull so easily!
I load Hornady 200-grain XTPs to just below 900fps for work. Any number of lead, 215- or 240-grain recipes work well for practice.
As I said above, you won't regret purchase of a TRS Model 24!
EDIT: Now that I'm home, I scrounged this photo of some of my .44s, including my TRS "twins". Oh, I did swap the front sight of my TRS work gun for a gold-beaded Patridge. This doesn't affect draw as I use a front-break holster.
