I took the car to Walmart today to get a flat tire fixed. Naturally I checked out the Sporting Goods while waiting. This Walmart has a sorry gun department. They did have a Henry lever action rifle in the display case for $758.00. It seems like a good price as it is $100+ higher on Gunbroker. But I may have figured out the reason for the price…

They have no ammunition for it. The only ammunition they have os shotgun shells.

What caliber was it? That’s cheap for a center fire but expensive for a .22…….. I’ll assume it was a center fire .

Last year I saw a couple Walmarts, each with a $2500 Henry on display. Don’t remember the model, but IIRC they were bright nickel and engraved. Definitely out of place among the $300 Mossbergs and Turkish shotguns.

In 2021, i picked up a Beretta A300 Xplor for $1250 at the Longview, WA, Walmart. I wasn’t in the market for a shotgun, but at $600 below MSRP I took it home. Trading fodder for a future gun show.

Make that Wally World an offer on a gun they don't have ammo for...650 might just buy it. ask for the sorting goods manager. They are allowed to deal a bit...even if he gives you 10%!! you are a weiner seinhor

Your flat tire Walmart experience was far better than mine.
was a 3 hour ordeal waiting for the guy at the counter to come down far enough to get the work order back to the shop.
While I lean toward the legalization of weed, being stoned as the rock of Gibraltar on the job is unacceptable.

Actually, since moving to PA 28 years ago, I have found several good deals on firearms at Walmart.

A plastic stocked Remington 700 ADL in 7mm mag for $300. Bought it as a loaner / bad weather beater rifle. Turns out it is a sub MOA shooter, and has taken my biggest black bear, and several big bucks in the hands of others.

Found a heavy barrel / laminated stock Rem 700 Varmint BDL in 22/250 for $400, if I remember right. It became a favorite for chuck hunting here in PA, and is tied with my Bergara chassis rifle as my most accurate. A true 1/3 MOA rifle.

These days, my two local Walmarts are, lets say, less than impressive..

Those 700 ADL were shooters if you got a good one. I had one in 30-06 which is a caliber I have ZERO interest in that shot MOA with the cheap pkg deal scope that came on it. I picked it up for $279 when Dicks sporting goods still sold guns. I sold it for $479 and buyer loved it.

Wal Marts in NW Louisiana have not sold guns or ammo for several years; only a few different types of shotgun shells and cleaning equipment. Used to get most of my centerfire ammo from them because they were the cheapest place.

Couple of the Walmarts here still carry both guns and ammo. Ammo is priced so high they have plenty of it and no longer do the three box limit.
