The "pearl"-gripped ones look like Ruger Single-Sixes or similar... shame.
 
Finding some old guns with a metal detector, pretty neat, but why on earth would he be 'freaked out,' as he said and his first reaction be to tote them down to the police station?
 
That's why you don't store guns in holsters.

I'm sure the SA without its trigger guard and barrel was in the Audley patent holster.

Some folks are scared of their own shadows.

I think the guys profile said he was from Mass. I imagine getting caught with guns you aren't "permitted" to have is a major problem there. Even if they are rusted out and useless.

Iggy...you have no idea.

I had a buddy years ago named Bob Younger (no s**T)
Bob always had a very good job and was buying Colt SAA's, Winchester's, and Henry's back before the big craze when prices were still reasonable.
He didnt have a safe, but did have insurance. He had stashed the guns all over the house.

Well you guessed it...someone broke in while he was on the road and stole most of them.

Insurance paid off, and although he lost some $ he came out alright.

A couple years later the police notified him that they had found his guns...BURIED under a mobile home.
He could have bought them from the insurance company for a huge discount, but couldnt bring himself to go look at them.
 
Those pearl handled guns look like Double Action High Standard Double Nines from some years back. The triggers are a bit far forward for single actions.

Yes. I had a Double Nine that I bought about 1960. I recognized them immediately.

The "T" grip seemed to hold up well.
A little WD40 and a tooth brush may clean them up.
