Hi folks,

Since it’s apparently raining 52s these days, I went out and had one thrown at me. A boxed r-prefix model 60 and a few bucks got the deal done.

This one stepped right out of 1991 with a trigger shoe and a big Ultra Dot attached to…a picatinny rail?

It’s a very nice rail section with excellent fitment. The cutout on top, the radiused profile, all nicely done. Two of the drilled-and-tapped holes are visible upon disassembly, and it looks cleanly executed. Any guesses on a brand?

Whatever was crammed into the dovetail to fill the area isn’t as finely finished, but whatever. This is a shooter! The dot works, and I plan on comparing this example to the other 52-2 as well as its long-ejector brother this week at the range.

Thanks for looking!

So many questions for the past owner(s) of this 52-2. Of those, two questions: did the work done get you where you wanted to be, and second - what gives with that crazy trigger shoe?

I bet it’s an early 90’s tack driver.

I realize the SN has been blurred out (I understand that, not crying) but I’m just not seeing 1991 here.

Can you offer the first half of the SN? I believe this is older.

I meant the era of competition that it was evoking with the rail and the Ultra Dot

I believe it to be a 1979-1980 gun, will pop down to safe in a bit.

Edit: serial is A589XXX, timeframe looks to be correct.

I would be very hesitant to put a shoe on my 52 or my 952 for that matter. Both have triggers so light that a shoe would probably make them scary!

Here's how my red dot is mounted:

Very cool mount! Can you share the maker, please? Thanks!

No info on the rail except that I purchased a model 41 with a similar rail.

The rail is Weaver or from one of the Weaver type lines made by several companies. Made of aircraft aluminum they are easy to modify if you can’t pick one out to match your radius. Also easy to mill additional cross locks using just drill press and vice with cross movement. Easiest bases to DIY fitting.

The rail looks like a Clark Custom rail and the trigger shoe looks like a DJ Precision.

The rail tips the sight base and the aluminum shoe gives you a grey or black trigger finger.

Here is another, funky but works well and no need to alter the gun. Bullet lands where the dot is.
