Actress Emma Watson, better known to many as Hermione Grainger in the Harry Potter movies, picked up enough points for a driving ban in England. Funny thing, so did another HP alum, Zoe Wannamaker. Check out those fines with the six month driving ban, about $1400 at the recent exchange rates.

Makes me think of Joe Walsh's song "Life's been Good";
Forgive me for the change in lyrics, Joe.

"Her little Audi does 185,
She lost her license, Now she don't drive.
She'll need a limo, and ride in the back,
Her good friend Zoe , can join her in hack."

But Life's Been Good to Her So Far.

The most embarrassing part would be the fact that the ticket that cost her her remaining points was for driving eight MPH over the limit (38 in a 30).
The assault on speed in the UK is almost up to Swiss standards. Traveling the M25, the London Beltway if you prefer, it is easier to count the gantries without speed cameras than count those equipped. Once you go past the 10% threshold, you are getting points. Get 12 points and it's Uber, bus, train, or Shanks's Pony.

It's got so bad even the Automobile Association, supposedly FOR the motorist, issued a missive a few years ago that the posted speed limit is not a target to be reached and maintained. I guess their upper management have some deal with the devil or a dodgy picture in the attic so they don't have worry about ageing.
