In my opinion the best value out there for the money. I've had one for about 3 months, ordered from Buds. Easy to sight in and about 500 rounds through it. No malfunctions yet. Edit: I have yet to clean it and probably won't except for the bore.

I've also got a kel-tec sub 2000 gen 2 and I have to say I enjoy shooting the hi-point as much if not more. The kel-tec is a little rough on your cheek.

You can now get 20 round mags made especially for the hi-point. These have been what I've been shooting.

Nice gun for the money.

Not an owner but have friends who are and I have shot theirs a good bit. Dang handy little carbine that shoots straight and works. If you run across anyone who bad mouths them you are likely talking to a person who hasn't shot one.

One of our club members has one that he shoots quite a bit. It has been back for free factory repair. I've shot it, and it is a cheaply made plinker with blowback action that can put rounds downrange. You either like it or you don't.

I have owned one for years. Bought it when I retired, and found myself with a boat load of 9mm pistol ammo, and wanted something to burn some of it up in. Think I paid about $225 for it. Mounted a cheap red dot on it, and a flashlight. Handles well, and I thought it might make a neat home defense gun,

BUT - with three different factory mags., it has never been reliable. Usually fails to feed about once every two or three mag fulls. Yea, I am the only one who owns one that isn't reliable....:(

Still, a fun range gun, and hey, a little clearing procedure practice never hurt anyone...

Not a owner yet BUT soon :) Go to the Hi Point Forums as well.another good forum from users of the 995 and all Hi points
From The users on the Hi Point forums I would say 99.9% all GREAT reviews on the 995 . The down fall was the 10 round mags. But as mentioned they do have a 20 rounder, basically looks like a 10 rounder stuck to another, Not great to look at but works. Red Ball makes the 20 Round and it is approved by
Hi Point . Per Specs they say DO NOT clean rifle till after 1500 rounds through it! I read take down can be a booger but not real bad. I will get one soon but first I am grabbing a Sport 2 :)

Bought one from my LGS. It looked like it had been treated awful. Brought it home, stripped the sights off, put on a $30 red dot and we have all been shooting it for over a year. Might go down tomorrow BUT so far 0 malfunctions. Total outlay for carbine and red...$105. We've shot at least 6 times that amount in ammo through it. One of our guys on a line crew found one in a ditch. A brown ball of rust. Shot it off with a high pressure hose and sent it back to HP. One week later a new rifle with the same serial number arrived...NO CHARGE!

A couple of months ago I came to the conclusion I "needed" one. I checked out local "gun for sale" board and one had been posted not five minutes before I saw the add. It was probably the fastest "I'll take it" in the history of the board.

I've only got about 100 rounds through it, but it worked just fine. I'm not really a long gun person so I got no real idea why I wanted it other than to say I've got it. It came with two ten round magazines, which are plenty for me. The only place I'll ever shoot it is at the local indoor range at 25 yards, but it's a lot of fun.

I have one in 40 S&W. Love it. Feeds anything. Never a failure of any type. I'd like to know where to find those 20 round mags, though. That would be too cool for school for me. Buy it and do not look back.

I have one. Sadly I've been experiencing a few failures to feed with the 20 round Red Ball magazines. I never had any with the 10 rounders. I need to play with it some more to determine if it's really the magazines or if it was ammo related since the last time I shot it I was using Legendary Ammo commercial reloads. I'd never bought those before, but the price was very low.
