A couple years ago I picked up a W-106 High Standard Double Nine convertible. It's in very good shape but only had the .22 Mag cylinder.

I sorta collect/shoot High Standard pistols and have a couple nice representative models so I thought this single action would fit in nice.

My question is, would getting a .22 LR cylinder for it be worth it? Not just collector wise but shooting wise too. Is a .22 LR going to be as accurate as the .22 Mag is? I've heard that the .22 Mag barrels are larger diameter and accuracy is comprised with the smaller diameter .22LR bullets.

Any thoughts or experiences?

Thanks
Jim

Never had much love for the .22 Mag. Doesn't do anything that a LR does that is helpful. Is it faster? More energy? Yes, but why? Maybe I'm biased, but I have had a Mag but will not again. Ammo is expensive and may provide an advantage in a rifle, but I don't see it in a revolver. I had a Automag (or whatever it was called) in .22 Mag a semi that shot high even at 50 yards. Never had a rifle in that caliber and never will...no need in my neck of the woods.
