What differences have you experienced? Do bullets coated with Hi-tek run faster than regular cast bullets using same bullet and powder charges?

Hard to say since I have not shot the same identical bullet both Hi-Tek and non Hi-Tek coated through the same gun.
What I can say is my loads seem to run a little faster than published data - if you can believe the published velocity numbers.
The Hi-Tek loads do burn much cleaner than conventional cast/lubed lead and I have not experienced leading problems in either the .44 or the 9mm that I run the Hi-Tek bullets in.

I started using Badman polymer coated bullets, same weights as before, 158gr in 38 special/.357 magnum and 240gr 44.magnum. I was using lead and jacketed bullets in the past. Badman bullets are said to be able to withstand 2200FPS, which in a pistol and revolver is well over magnum speeds. I used the same load data with the poly coated bullets and they seemed to chrony a little faster than the respective lead/jacketed counterparts. So next batch I could reduce the loads ,there were no high pressure signs on the primers nor difficulty removing the spent cases from the cylinder. My estimate would be the poly coating increased the speed, with no ill effects on pressure. speed was increased 25fps average in 38 special, and about 40fps in the magnums.
No big thing if they do or don't.
The main thing is that they are........cleaner
and can pushed harder.
However I still load a lot of lead bullets and plated.
and yes, the 125gr coated 9mm goes faster....
have not fired my 125gr loaded 38 coated, as yet.

My loads run about 20fps faster. It will vary I am sure with powder choice, but safe to say they will be slightly faster.

I don't know about the velocities.....
But I do know that I really like coated bullets.

You should try a different brand then
I had one brand that had an odd smell as you mention, the other brands I have used since then did not have any odor at all!Karl

There is no other brand, Hi-tek is the brand. There are other things like powder coating. If you have cured the coating properly, the smell is very minimal.

Yes I meant different brand of bullets, same coating but perhaps a better curement process

Acme red lipstick bullets behind a fairly stiff charge of 2400 smell like plastic burning, sickening.

I've been loading the Missouri branded coated in 9mm, 38 and 45 calibers (Red, Green and Gold.). All have that acrid smell. Love the bullets. Maybe more than plated. Still deciding if I can live with the smell.

Load data can vary from maker to maker.
The company that I got my 9mm coated bullets from had the....
115gr maxed out at 1209fps and a average of 13 powders at 1139fps.
The 125gr top fps was 1173 and the average for 14 powders was 1081fps.
The 125gr RN flat base worked from 1.06 to 1.12" in my 9mm pistol.
Plated can go 100fps higher with the heavy coat and heavier pay loads from my testing.
I see no need to push the coated bullets but it can be done if you find some data.

I can't say that the speed of your bullet will be increased as I don't have a chronograph to document any changes. However, I did have to re-zero everything as the point of impact changed with the same weight and shape of bullet when I switched over to Hi-Tek coated bullets.

What distance? I have seen no change in POI out to 50yds with several of my guns.
