First post... Came into a collection, including some older S&Ws. Just can't decide what to do... Talked with Rock Island but scared away with 25-30% off the top. Just got my FFL, but valuing these things is a CHORE! Have Blue Book and Standard Catalog of S&W. Any ideas are welcome! Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum from Pennsylvania.
Getting values sometimes presents a chore, and 'the books' can be way off at times, high or low.
For values, I go to GunBroker auctions and access the Advanced search, then click on 'past sales' and enter my search. When the results come back I ask it to organize the results by 'number of bids high to low'. That way I get to see what the items have supposedly actually sold for and how many bids they had. Other information such as what someone offered for a set price, or a high starting bid with no bids received is pretty much meaningless. So, your biggest challenge may be identifying exactly what you have and doing the correct searches on GB.
Let me know how you make out.

Hi from North Dakota :). I've sold guns on both Guns International and Gun Broker. Happy with the results, so far.

Welcome aboard from Orlando. I use the exact technique described above with Gunbroker. If it's a fairly common gun, you'll get a very good idea as to what that item is ACTUALLY selling for nowadays.
You might, however, have a couple somewhat rare, and out of the ordinary Smiths in your pic, and for that I would ask some of the extremely knowledgeable members of this forum. They've helped me in the past. Good luck with your sales!

Welcome aboard from coastal North Carolina.

I'd offer the items on this forum first; then, use GunBroker if there was no interest here.

Pricing can be tricky if only offered to locals, but a national audience of possible buyers will get a better price. Setting a price using GunBroker completed sales in their advanced search can give you a ballpark figure to set your price.
