Here's a true story of my favorite character actor, the late Strother Martin. A guy everyone here knows except maybe his name. He always put a slightly weird twist on his characters making them memorable. He could be cultured and articulate like in True Grit or a drygulchin' dirtbag in The Wild Bunch. This very funny story by his agent might explain everything.

I just saw him the other day while watching 'The Sons of Katie Elder'. Great character that doesn't get the recognition he deserves....kind of like the same with Bruce Dern.

Yep, he brought a lot to the films he was in.

I only knew him from Slapshot and he was great in that role!

He was also real good in the Charles Bronson/James Coburn 1930s bareknuckle fighter movie “Hard Times”. Martin played the drug addicted doctor who teams up with them. He made bad movies good and good movies great.
