It has a "laser" and a compensator. Besides the fact that the blueing is a little flawed, it looks pretty cool. I have the "laser" zeroed at 25 yards, which according to the trajectory table on Kel_tec's web site, will zero it at 100 yards too. I asked for it because it's a pistol caliber, so I can shoot it at my indoor range and my recoil sensitive wife willo be able to shoot it.

Recommend you stay away from bulk WWB, fellow over on the Hi Point forum I belong to just had a squib round blow up his C9, and I personally had two rounds in one 100 pack with no powder in them, lucky I was shooting the pistol instead of the carbine. The bullets actually fell out of the barrel and landed about two feet in front of me.

Did you get the new TS model?
 
I was able to shoot one of those at the range and it was dead accurate... I was impressed seeing they are pretty inexpensive.

LOL! Heck yes! I wanted a dad gum model 29. Santa must have been watching me last year. But now that I have it, I thinks it's kind of neat. The laser is adjusted dead on top of the from sight post.

I have had problems with WWB in the past too so thanks for the heads up.

It's a 995LZ. I am looking forward to breaking it in at the indoor range as soon as I can.

not if you consider its american made and will stand up to torture tests most other gun owners shriek and run and cry from. They also have a no questions asked lifetime warranty and stand by their product 100%.
 
My 995TS has been reliable and reasonably accurate for a pistol caliber carbine. It is not as well finished as my Marlin carbines but I paid more for the Marlins too. Well, now that I think about it I paid around $220 for my Marlin 1894 CS in 32-20, but that was probably 20 years ago. You can bet that if I find another Marlin CS for that price I'll buy it as well.
 
Congrats on a cool gift. I have a friend who is a tribal policeman in Montana and he kills at least one deer every year with his (9mm, just like yours). I don't think its ever jammed on him, and he loads it with whatever ammo he has handy, usually some old 147 grain Hydra Shoks I gave him.
 
I grabbed one a couple years ago as a range toy. Still a hoot to shoot, and a great little utility gun. Eats anything I've fed it, and loves Wolf.

I had a magazine stop feeding properly, called HiPoint, they said, "Send it back. We'll send you a new one." A week later, I had a brand-new mag in my hand. No questions, no argument, just, "Send it back."

Their handguns might be questionable, but I'd buy another carbine in a heartbeat.
 
Fun gun

i had one years ago and for the price you can't lose i had tons of fun with it treated it bad and it worked great much more penetration than a 9mm pistol no ftf or fte they need a bigger clip though jmo
 
Here's how good their customer service treated me... I bought two "new" magazines off Gunbroker for my C9, I thought they were all the same, didn't know they had made an earlier model without the last round hold open feature, and guess what? The mags were for the earlier model and wouldn't work in mine unless I did some machining on them. I called Hi Point and confessed what I did, they said "Send them in." Week later I got two brand new mags that were made for my model, free of charge. Can't beat that!
 
regarding high point carbine....

I have never owned one but have been curious about how durable they are. Sometimes in my experience I have found inexpensive firearms to be pretty tough and lots of fun. Also any time you get a firearm for a gift just say THANK YOU!!!! AND HAVE FUN. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
 
Excellent info here... based on what I read here... I went out and bought one of these. What a blast, I've let about 10 guys shoot this thing at the S&W Shooting Range.. everyone of them wanted one. !!! Thanks for sharing.
 
It's good to hear these comments. I've had a 9mm rifle version for about 2 years and have never had any type of problem.

I had as much trouble convincing myself to buy this gun as I do spending 5 times as much money.

Form and function! There are many gun snobs who just can't bring themselves to purchase an inexpensive firearm.

I inherited a $1,500 set of golf clubs and I still stink at golf.
