Hodgdon CFE 223

I know you're probably asking about using it in the 223/5.56mm but you really should give us more information.

I have a few jugs of it and use it in 5.56. It seems to work as advertised. I haven't noticed any copper fouling in my bore since using it. Can't comment on what degree of accuracy you will achieve with it in your rifle. In my rifle, with plinking loads cranked out on a progressive press, 5 shot groups seem to hover at around 1.25 inches at 100M.

I've used it for the .308 Win.

I don't have enough experience with it to pass judgement on it just yet.

It meters like water and yields good load densities. Accuracy in the few loads I've tried is by my standards, mediocre.

I have used it for awhile in my Ruger AR. You will have to go to their web sight to get the recipes for any bullet you are going to use because most manuals don't list CFE223. It has worked as advertised in the amount of it I have used. It meters well and weighs out well. It seems to be as accurate as most other fine powders. Good speed at modest amounts. No copper fouling. I have tried some in my Savage 308 but not enough to see any difference yet.

This has been loaded for the military for quite some time. There was a pretty extensive article on it for reloading in Shooting Times back about last fall. It does work.. Some friends who also shoot prairie Dogs have switched to it, but found you needed a magnum primer to wring the best accuracy out of it. I have personally witnessed borescope views of before and after 100 round tests and it is amazing that it actually removes copper fouling that was in place prior to shooting it.
