Can anyone recommend a good holster designed to ride between the belt and the waistband? It would need to accomodate a j-frame.

Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Not sure I understand the question (or why you want such a holster), Goffman, but suspect you could loop your belt outside just about any OWB holster. Not sure what benefit(s) that would accrue, though.

IWB holsters with belt clips could be clipped to the belt, only, but they would lose a lot of functionality as they would not be very secure.

Be safe.

Galco makes the Jak slide for autos. I have one somewhere, and I seem to recall that I carried a j-frame around in one that was sold as fitting a Ber 92. You might check Galco dealers in your area and see if they have one.

A lot of pancake holsters can be used that way. It keeps the gun tucked a little closer to the body.

Milt Sparks makes one specifically for that purpose.

That's the way I have carried everyday for years, and it is very secure. Any "IWB" with a metal clip will work that way, it's more comfortable than inside the pants, and only requires you to get a bigger belt, not bigger pants.

Hmmmm, interesting. Will check it out anew...

Be safe.

Thanks for the replies, gentlemen. If you run across any other brands of this type of holster, in addition to the Milt Sparks, I would appreciate it if you could pass them on to me. I've looked at the websites of a number of holster manufacturers, but I'm sure there are some manufacturers that I have missed (or of which I am unaware).

Thanks again for your time.

I actually made one for my LCP. Very light and comfortable. It wouldn't protect the gun very much since I used light material, but that would only be an issue if I fell and landed directly on the LCP. I also added a retention strap so it's very secure.

It isn't pretty, but it works. :)
