For carrying the new .380 Shield EZ in a purse, what holster might be recommended? Would purse carry without a holster of any kind be okay?

I pocket carry my .380 EZ in a Uncle Mike's
Model 36. It also doubles as an IWB if needed. I think it wold work fine in a purse and you can get it for $10. at Walmart.com

The only handbag carry I have that keeps my handgun immediately available when I reach for it, not floating around and hard to find, is a purpose built firearm handbag.

Purse carry is a poor option, with the only one worse being unarmed. Unless you just can't carry without using a purse, don't. Too easy to have preventable problems, even with a purpose built purse designed for carrying a firearm.

No experience with a purse but would think unless it is designed specifically for carry (internal pocket etc) then it could be risky to just have the gun loose. Too many chances to hit the trigger; at least that seems it would be a concern.

If carrying in a purse (aka: Off Body), the purse strap should be long enough to carry Cross-Shoulder (so it can't simply be grabbed by someone walking by) and the strap should have an internal wire (like a woven fishing leader wire), so the strap can't be cut by a purse snatcher with a box cutter. Having the purse 'snatched' is why Off Body carry is not recommended.
As far as carrying loosely in a purse?? Not recommended, unless the purse has a designated inner pocket, or an area where a holster could be secured by Velcro. Without a holster things could get snagged in the trigger guard, resulting in a negligent discharge (unless carrying without a round in the chamber, in which case, one may as well carry a knife, pepper-spray, or a hammer, instead of a handgun.

Having a grip safety on the EZ would make it a better purse carry than some other type safety’s. But I would never carry any handgun ‘loosely’ in my purse. Concealed handbag only.

My wife has a concealed carry purse with braided wire in the strap and a quick-open compartment lined with a hook and loop material (Velcro) interior to properly orient the holster for whichever pistol she carries that day. Unfortunately, she's still searching for the right 380EZ holster. Being in Texas, I just open carry and don't shop or dine anywhere my gun isn't welcome. #rememberLuby's

I know the purse carry is frowned on but it’s what I do. I shopped specifically for one that works well and the gun is easily accessible. Mine has a compartment on the flat back, zips down on both sides. It’s also has a holster that is very strongly velcroed in the compartment. Also has wire running thru the strap.

Purse carry is fine. I make a holster that has, of all things, a fishing swivel clip that secures it inside the purse so that the holster stays put when you draw the gun out. I usually afix a clip on it also so that it can be used IWB at the range or on a hike.

I remember hearing a firearms instructor ask a woman who was contemplating purse carry, "Will you have the purse in your hand or on your shoulder all the time? You won't ever set it down in a shopping cart, or to try on a garment, or to put on or take off your coat?"
She had to admit there were a lot of situations in which she might lose the purse and a damn nice firearm, wired shoulder strap or not.

While the holster doesn't work well for belt carry for my wife, the DeSantis thumb break mini-slide should work for purse carry. DeSantis Thumb Break Mini Slide Holster It provides a safety strap that goes around the back of the slide. That, plus the grip safety on the gun, should provide a decent level of comfort. If it would be a dedicated purse holster, you could cut off the belt slot areas (it may need to be re-sown) to make it more compact. Alternatively, you could bring the gun into a gun store and find a generic nylon holster with a strap that goes over the rear of the slide. Just be aware of the length of the holster--if the muzzle sticks out below the holster the front sight could snag during the draw.

Not Many Options For The Ladies
I understand the negatives about purse packing but__there aren't a lot of options for the ladies.
If my wife feels a possible threat her hand goes in the purse and holds it close. If the situation "develops" she'll be needing to buy a new purse.
I suppose she could use an ankle holster but___she has such "purdy" legs.....
