Holster for the shield

I personally like Remora. They have a variety of carry options and shipping is usually very quick. I jumped on the Labor day sale with 40% off and a free mag holder. I purchased two new holsters. A hybrid holster and a new one for the shield with a mag compartment attached to it. There was a hold up on the hybrid holster and they gave a courtesy call to let me know what the problem was today and it was being shipped today. A+ for customer care seeing that I didn't call first to check on the order. This will be my seventh holster from Remora. There are a lot of good holsters out there but this has been my go to for holsters.

Sorry, I can't come up with anything for "BF".
Please remind me. :-)

I've been researching the AlienGear Cloak Tuck 3.0, and have not found any negative reports.

Sorry, Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Also my sister wants to buy my Beretta Neos so if I can sell that, I'd have a little more disposable income to justify the higher cost.

I own two N8²and find them to be the most comfortable I have tried and I have a drawer full of rejects!!!!!
The one for my shield is now about 2 years old but except from taking the shape of my body it is like new.
I have fallen asleep while wearing it.
check at N82 Tactical for more info!

I was at my LGS/Range today, and asked one of the employees about holsters. Although the store carried a number of holsters, he highly recommended the AlienGear Cloak Tuck 3.0, which the store did not carry.

He said he has 3 AlienGear holsters, and they all have fit very well, and are very comfortable. I asked about whether the gun grip (which is not covered by the holster backing) caused him any problem when the holster was against his bare skin. He say no, no problems whatsoever.

He went on and on about how great they are, without any prompting from me.

So, IMO, that's another strong plus in favor of the AlienGear Cloak Tuck 3.0.

I still have not found any negative reports about it.

I ordered mine 2 nights ago so I should have it by the end of October hopefully sooner. Plus I was told that if I ordered another within the 30 day trial period I'd still get the 2 holster discount

If jmichael or chele buy the Stealth Gear Onyx for the Shield (no laser) and don't like it, I'll buy it from you.

Thanks for the offer -- much appreciated.

But I'm now at about 99.9% ready to buy the AlienGear holster. Just got back from another LGS/gunsmith, and they too had nothing but praise for the AlienGear.

I'l probably order tomorrow.

The StealthGear holster also does NOT cover the handle of the gun. I wonder if this will present an issue like the Alien Gear holster?

It's strictly personal preference.
I have the VZ Operator II's on my Kimber and after hitting them lightly with some sandpaper, there's no irritation at all.
None at all with the Shield.
My preference is to be able to grasp the gun and not having to shove my thumb between the excess material and the gun.

@chele519:

Which type of clip did you order with your Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 IWB Holster
  • Standard Nylon (recommended)
  • Black Steel

They have 3 additional clips you can add to your order:
  1. "J" clips
  2. "C" clips
  3. Leather Loops (black or tan)

Anyone see a need for these?

I didn't know which clips I'd want so I ordered the combo pack and the standard nylon. The shipping was cheaper by a couple bucks to order the combo pack at the same time of the order than to do it later. I might not use the c clips but thought I might want the j and loops.

That's good to hear. Blackhorse-I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

jmichaeltx-do you have night sights on your gun? Or do you know if the people who told you how great they are had them? I asked Aliengear about whether they would fit or not and didn't get a definitive answer. I found a review for another gun that says the Trijicon does not work with the holster so I'm considering canceling the order and going with something that definitely fits. I know it can be returned but by the time you pay for shipping/return shipping, it is close to 1/2 the cost of the holster. If you find out any other info, can you post please?

Sorry chele519, I do not have night sights (I have the Crimson Trace laser).
Nobody I talked to specifically mentioned night sights, but I'll try to talk to them tomorrow, if they are working.

One approach is for you to tell AlienGear that you will cancel the order unless they can guarantee it will work with your night sights. I would think this is something they themselves would want to know and advertise.

I'll post back here as soon as I have any further info.

Good luck.

Thanks. What kind of concerned me is when I asked, she said if it didn't fit, they could not fix it so it would. I'm seriously considering getting a Hidden hybrid instead. They've got great reviews and IWB/OWB in one. Plus they tell you to mention if you have anything that is not stock so it sounds like they will build around that. I'm going to try and call and see if they are open today and read some more reviews but that's how I'm leaning at this point.

For what it's worth, I just checked my Shield with stock sights in my Alien Gear 2.0 holster and there's plenty of room in there for the sights. I can't imagine any of the aftermarket sights being too tall to fit. I would say there's right around 1/8" of wiggle room so you should be fine.

You shouldn't have any issues with night sights with most holsters...unless you specifically order and extra tall or extra wide front sight. I have Ameriglo Pro i-Dot's s on my Shield and there is good 1/8" clearance on the top, and about 1/4" clearance on the sides. My holster is the Bianchi Suppression.

Also, with as many AG holster being sold I'm sure at least one person has had night sights on their Shield and would have posted it all over the internet if the holster did clear the sights and how lousy of a holster it is! lol

But if for some reason they won't fit, AG has a 30 return policy.

Thanks for the replies, I saw them too late though. Called back and spoke to someone and she just couldn't say for sure so I canceled the order. With the 3.0 being new, I didn't see a ton of reviews on it, I even posted on their FB page asking if anyone had it with night sights and didn't get an answer. I just was leery of waiting 4-5 weeks and then finding out it was an issue. I went with Hidden Hybrid instead and should have it by the end of next week.

Let us know how you like the HHH. I love mine....there's an attention to detail that other holsters I've compared it to lack. Holstering is smooth with good retention....it just has a better feel than others I've tried.

I'll say that the customer service by both so far was great. AG was great about canceling and processing the refund. I don't remember who I talked to at HH but he was great. Talked to me about the features and answered some of my concerns about the OWB option. I saw on FB that they had a Labor Day 15% off special and asked if they were planning one for Columbus day and he said no, but he really wanted me to try the holster and thought I'd be happy with it and gave me 10% off. Plus although it says 1-2 week turnaround, he said with as many as they do for the Shield, it will probably ship early next week and I should have it by the weekend. I'm looking forward to getting it, I just love this gun!
