I've got a 686SSR and wondering what others use for a holster for IDPA etc?

The only one I have now is a DeSantis thumb break scabbard style.
For my 1911 I have a locally made kydex that works perfectly - wondering what you folks use?

I use Safariland.
Comp Tac (who is an IDPA sponsor) makes a popular kydex belt holster for revolver.

I love a Safariland 567-09 for a 4" 686. Also try to find a 561BL attachment (ebay) to get it slightly away from your body. Adjusts cant to fit. Good Luck!!

thanks folks, will have to check out their sites.

then you have a fobus holster. mid wayusa has the fobus paddle holster for 16.99. i also have the same problem there isn't much out there for the 686 that i've found

I have a fobus for my glock - very comfy.
It's nothing I'd try to wear for concealed carry - but for range day wear its great.

I'll have to see if our local place has a fobus for the 686.

The only other one that they had was another desantis but it was the speed draw one (or something like that name) - i opted for the thumb break version to start with as I planned to try and carry it more vs. having/needing a speed draw.

The next purchase is likely a Minotaur MTAC Holster with the interchangeable kydex bodies - one for the 1911sc and the other for the G23. But that is for ccw.

thanks again

Maybe your local kydex maker can make a holster for the SSR. Otherwise, my choice is kydex made by Ready Tactical Ready Tactical.

Definitely more expensive than Fobus but there's really no comparison between a Fobus holster and high quality kydex.

sorry, should have clarified - i bought the 'local' kydex from one of the local shops, at this point I can't recall who made it however the person may have marked the holster...certainly warrants looking it over.

thanks for the link, will check that out too.
