Think you'll like it. I bought one a few months ago as my new concealed carry weapon. I've carried a couple of others but feel like the 40c is the best trade off on size and weight without giving up a lot of capacity. I did put Crimson Trace laser grips on it as the sight radius is a little short but I still shoot it well when I'm not using the laser.
I have several Crossbreed Supertucks and am using the same for my M&P 40c. I did buy their gun belt as well which really holds it securely without any sag. I do use the Supertuck with other belts satisfactorily. I live South of Houston so deal with carrying in the same climate as you. I have opted for the horsehide option as it is recommended in humid climates. I don't know how the cowhide would be but figure I won't miss the few extra dollars for the horsehide even if there isn't any difference.

M-Tac Minotaur by Comp-Tac. Once you buy the holster you can buy different kydex shells that will swap onto the leather body. I have one body and shells to fit the M&P compact, Walther PPS, Colt Officer's ACP, and a Kimber Pro Carry.

i will chime in one more time for:
Personal Security Systems Kydex Holsters
I now have them for my M&P 40c and my Kahr PM9. Really a very nice holster. In the past I had leather, kydex and combos of both. Problems with all of them. Uncomfortable, bulky, hard to draw from, not concealable. The new ones from Personal Security Systems Kydex Holsters are phenomenal. Wore one all night last night with an untucked shirt and it is invisible and comfortable as can be. Try it......

I will second Obi's preference for a great kydex (pancake) custom made holster from PSS that I bought for my 40c. I'm still wearing mine with a 1.5" wide, leather, 2 prong Dickies belt I got at Wally's world, however, I just purchased an instructor's-type belt but have not rec'd it yet.

Here is a product evaluation I did a few months ago: http://smith-wessonforum.com/concea...l-security-systems-pancake-kydex-holster.html

Several choices! Thanks for the thread and replies.

Kydex is the only choice for me. I have owned and carried in an MTAC Minotaur and a SuperTuck, they are less than ideal for hot weather carry. The leather gets sweatsoaked and discolored quick. Plus you have to "combat cut" the leather to get a good grip on your draw.
I switched to all Kydex gear from NTAC and will never go back. These are convertible from IWB to OWB or Paddle. Screwdriver and a few minutes makes changing carry styles easy.

IWB M&P9-CTR with TLR-1

Paddle M&P9c with TLR-3

NTAC has also made PPS and G19 holsters for me just like above.

Another Kydex vote. I have a Galco Kydex that works real good. Also, Blade Tech has one called the Razor that looks really nice. I called them and they told me they could make the razor for the 40C. It is not listed but cann be ordered.

Any other Remora users want to testify?

:) My 40c now resides in two remora holsters. When I am able to pocket carry, a normal remora holster made for G26 or G27 fits great. When waistband is needed, I use the remora with a sweat shield and kydex insert. The sweat shield keeps the pistol off my body and the kydex makes it much easier to reholster. Best part is they are from Florida and are $25-30 with wonderful customer support from Alan. I received a free IWB mag holder just because of a billing issue (paypal's fault, not Alan's). Check them out...

The other thing is these things are great in sweats, gym shorts, etc. when you can't or may not want a supertuck or other clip type holster.
One other thing - the design seems to have less of a tendency to activate the mag release by accident...A problem I had with other holsters like uncle mike's/blackhawk etc. The sweat shield with kydex does a better job of keeping pressure off the mage release button AND since I wanted a manual safety (thumb sweep is a habit) it keeps the safety from gouging me in the back.

concealment holsters

have a m&p 40c in a don hume molded leather clip-on speed holster. it rides nice and high has perfect retention and the clip on is easy on,easy off.:)
