holsters question

This is not another what holster should I use question ,but rather, is there anyone else that has a hard time walking away from a quality holster?

I have been buying holsters for guns I don't even own simply because a great holster at a great price (usually has to under $20.00) is irresistable to me.

I love good leather from Milt Sparks, Kramer, Brommeland, DeSantis, Bianchi, Don Hume, Galco, Gould & Goodrich, etc.

I also use them as loaners to friends or students when I am hosting a class. If I can get high quality for little money it is in my box and then sometimes I sell off what I don't need or want or trade for what I really DO want. The look, feel, quality of workmanship and smell of a great leather holster is almost addicting!

The people that can manufacture these exquisite holsters always amaze me.

There are many good leather holster support groups on the web. The first step is admitting your problem.

Sometimes it pays to look through the junk piles on tables at gun shows. Last year while rummaging through a box of junk holsters I found a NIBag G&G 3 Slot OWB holster for a 4053. The sky high asking price was $5.00. After a little haggling she dropped the price 20%. The only bad part was I had already sold my 4053, so I bought another to go with the new holster .

A few years ago I bought a box of used leather holsters from SOG. All wrong (left) handed for, I think, $2.00 each. Priced them at $10 each and let people beat me down to $5. They felt good about getting a discount and I still more than doubled my money.

At the last SanAntonio show I visited I found a nice Alessi cross-draw for a J frfame, for $5. Just the thing to take my 317 out to the field to play.

I've done it with some auto holsters... Leather, like wood and steel, has a certain appeal.

Call me old fashioned or whatnot...

Leather just really does it for me. When our department went to nylon/cordura/whatever they call it, many of us kept our leather gear.

Once it's broken in, it's like an old friend or that pair of jeans you just cant get rid of.

And good used leather at the gun shows can be a bargain and even finding a brand new or once or twice used holster is a great find.

I got this one last month at a show. Nobody wants revolver holsters as a general rule.

20 bucks got this brand new Don Hume Model 7 for K frames.

I use the current Don Hume Model 715's as my daily carry holsters.

My retired LE gear...still does range duty. Bianchi Model 99T.

You've hit on the real part of the holster "sickness"... you get a great deal on a holster for gun you don't own, and then you just have to get a gun for it.

Oh well. There are worse afflictions.
