I have been trying to locate a Mossberg 590 A-1 (cat. # 51663) for several months. Seems that there are none to be found anywhere. In the meantime, I have had my old Remington 870 Wingmaster nearby for over 35 years.

I have lots of SXS coach guns, but the low round count keeps them in the safe. If I didn't have the 870, one of those bad boys would be made handy though.

FYI, http://www.vangcomp.com
...lists them for $785 including their custom compensation system.

It appeared they had them in inventory.

After buying a Remington 870 pump action shotgun for home defense I searched in vain for a safe place to keep it both loaded & ready for action, yet secure and out of sight. This lead me to invent The "Behind the Scene" Hidden Shotgun Cabinet (patent pending) with a special locking mechanism that is out of view, but that can be opened instantly. Please look at my new website and give it some consideration. I have been a long time member & contributor to this forum and have read many postings from members experiencing the same dilemma. This high quality unit is proudly hand made in the USA and the introductory price of $269.95 is for any of the 77 different combination's. Thank you for your time & consideration. chief38,

I did check out your site at http://hiddenguncabinet.com ...

Great idea and excellent ingenuity and entrepreneurialism. I would definitely buy one if it had a metal cabinet and if the lock hasp was metal to metal.

Good luck with your venture!

Titan,
Thank you.

I toyed with the idea of using metal, but it was too harsh on the finish of the gun (around the hole in the top), too sharp, and most gun owners I encounter just plain like a REAL piece of Oak.

The other reason I liked the Oak is that the owners of these gun cabinets can customize them easier. (for a hand gun, speed loader, shell loops for extra ammo, a flashlight, etc.) by installing different types of hooks, hangars, and other attachment devises.

chief38,

Thanks. I'm confident you'll do well with this. It's a great idea for anyone seeking concealment and to prevent general access.

There's a Winchester Model 12, cut down to a riot gun and reblued shown with a cut Remington Model 11. The Winchester was made in 1919, the Remington is quite old as well. I also have two generic Mossberg 500s and a Stoeger Coach gun. However, my actual "home defense guns" are those show below.

I like your Model 11. I have a model 11 I am working on as a project gun. I have modified an Auto 5 synthetic stock to work on it, could probably use a little bit more stock filler, but it is coming along. Trying to locate a 20 inch barrel for mine, and I think I am going to try and manufacture a mag extension for it.
