Found this 4 screw Pre 29 No Dash  (just a poke at the latest questions) at a local shop. Serial # S179704 has a little Holster wear but wasnt fired much at all. April 58 is what I am hoping for.

Just enough wear to make it a top shelf shooter! Your lucky the stocks weren't "harvested" for an E-bay sale before it sold.

I hope it turns out to be the date you want. Great photos too.

thanks guys,

Curtis,

thats exactly what the shop owner said to me too. He's had it in his shop a few weeks and I just couldnt let it go, it kept calling my name at night (we've all been there). If it dates right , It will shoot 44 specials just fine.

I know all about the right date. It took me forever to find a 1966 shipped 44 magnum. Doc finally helped me out and it's a 4" as well.
If it dont date right, give me a shout;)

Well back to the Search, this one missed by a month  its a May 58 gun.

Too bad on the miss Dan, keep trying. A few years ago I stopped at a small shop (since closed) and asked about old Smiths, owner brought out a 29-2 with a set of Cokes, the Gods were smiling that day and I walked out with it for $400 cash.
As it was an S prefix I had it lettered and to my surprise it came back as having been shipped September 20 1963, my third birthday!!
So I have a birthday gun, by accident, but not THE birthday gun. I'm not complaining however.

Dan: I have a 5" pre=29 4 screw 4-30-1958

It went to H.H. Harris on that day. I posted pics in another thread. Here they are as well. 3 T's, cokes, honest muzzle wear from leather, faint cylinder line, excellent timing, smoooooth. 98% Shot very little, I never have. Unfortunately, no box. Do have letter from Roy.
