We're in a heat wave down here in the Peach State.

Got up at 0445 to work the dog in the field before it gets unbearable.

I am drenched with sweat. 100% humidity at daybreak.

Quigley takes the heat better than I do.

Weather at this time is still reasonable at my mountain lake home.

The highest it has reached so far is 89 for one day and then it went back down. Still lot of warm weather to come. Normally the first couple weeks in July are the worst! (of course) Have had no need for AC yet and only had 2 of the 4 paddle fans running for only that day.

I found myself not b..(complaining) about the heat but just bringing it to my wife's attention when I cut the grass the other day. THEN I remembered a few short months ago it was minus a million below zero and I stopped myself! I helped a good friend pull the winter cover off his above-ground pool. He has had heart surgery and the humidity, etc., makes him have to sit down for a while. I told him not to EVER hesitate to call me when he's doing something like that. When I cut the grass I looked like I took a shower before I actually did. But, after this past winter and about 60 before that I refuse to (complain) about the heat. A/C works great (knock wood) and spraying hose water mist above me does wonders. I could never live down South, being a sissy Yank! I visited my sister in Victoria in August one year. I'm not sure but I swear that part of Texas is on the darned Equator! I don't like the high heat either, but I have the minus 740 degree cold to remind me!
It really can be unhealthy for many people.

Nice pic of Quigley. He looks concerned for the cameraman. Hope you got home for a cool shower shortly thereafter.

Actually, we hopped on the zero-turn and mowed the lawn when we finished our field drills. The heat index was about 90° at 0930. I only did a half-arse job and refused to do the edges with the weed-eater. That thing is a ball-breaker in the heat.

I've got to finish a small painting job on the back porch before noon. It's so hot the latex paint won't do right coming off the brush. LOL

We've got a rifle bench match on Saturday. It will be miserable hot at the gun club. Quigley never complains though.

Yesterday it was 98 with the dew point being 70. Today more of the same but there will be a few days in the low 80s the by next Monday back to HOT and Humid. This is what we get in mid to late July.

It's been in the 90's out here in the mountains of West Virginia and I'm lovin' it.
Hit triple digits in the sun on a camping trip.

While I soaked up the rays my wife relaxed in her hammock in the shade where it was only 86 degrees.

We're looking forward to a hike on a local mountain ridge in the heat today.

Supposed to get even hotter next week and I'm looking forward to it.

Up here in the PNW it has been the coldest, wettest spring and early summer I can remember. Don't even have all the planting done, too muddy. No campfires or dinners outside. Cold.

I'm with you, WardenRoss. I have a 4 month old German Shepherd I am training and I can't believe how hot it is even at 5:30am which is the coolest time of day. Next week is going to be even worse.

Lucky you (?) We're still waiting for "heat" up here. Hit 81º in early June but has been below average with a lot of rain.

As a result of it hitting 103º here last June 27, I have just laboriously trenched in 90' of 6" drain line, 5' deep, to create an "earth tube" cooling system for the house. Brought it into the basement and attached a commercial 6" inline fan. The remaining ducting will come up under the central staircase and vent into the main room. House is small-ish and open plan, with a 52" ceiling fan running slowly 24/7 so I should be able to distribute the cool air pretty well.

Tested it recently on a warm day: 77º outside, 60º coming in via the buried pipe :D I still need to finish the duct line inside but if we get any hot weather, I should be able to keep the house in the low 70's. When I get it completed I may post the project here as it might be of interest.
