We returned from a road trip just about dark last night and found three of our outdoor friends awaiting us with hungry stomachs and cold feet. Two of them asked to sleep in the garage. A little later I looked in on them and "UK" (Ugly Kitty) on the left, aka in the neighborhood as "BC" (Bitch Cat); and "No Name", on the right, found the still warm Hummer hood to be a perfect spot to put aside their sibling rivalries for a warm place to sleep.

When "UK" is alone, she is a great and pleasant helper in the garden. However, when any of the other cats are around it is obvious how she earned her name. "No Name" is a true gentleman who gets along with everyone and only wants his sister to leave him alone.

Yep, when I was a kid working at my Dads service station he sent me up to an elderly womens (customer) house because her car would not start one morning. When I tried to start it the starter motor would try to turn the engine over but could not. Opened the hood to find her cat had been sleeping on/in the engine and when she went to start the car that morning it got tangled in the fan belt. Pretty much pinched its head off when the cats neck got jammed between the belt and the crankshaft pulley.

No Name, Huh? We've got one, but we abbreviated it to Nonny. There's also a town in Colorado, just east of Glenwood Springs, named No Name. Not bad.

You know you're really a Cat Person when you not only have Cats in Residence, but Visiting Cats as well.
In the the Summer of 1965 we had this bid old
pale orange tiger who would just appear-and fairly regularly-in our house. My mother always accused me of letting him in. The one day she caught him. The screen door had a tear in one corner, he would stick his head through and squeeze in, like a cartoon character. In December 1965 we had VC-Visiting Cat-take up residence. One cold night I heard a cat meowing to be let in, I saw this strange black cat I never saw before acting like he owned the place.
I let him in, he found a Cozy Spot and promptly went to sleep. He stayed with us for about a year.
