After the past few gunshows being LESS than stellar, I went to the one being held in Reliant Center.
I was neither amused nor impressed.
I saw A LOT of junk...just about everything was overpriced. There was SOME ammo; not a lot and mostly steel cased Russian stuff. 380 was availible in 50 round boxes...cheapest I saw was $45.00 a box.
I went looking for a good knock-about 22 rifle...didn't find any that I could live without. Saw lots of selling and looking...little buying. Didn't look like too much of anything was moving.
I short, a rather disappointing foray. Usually, you can find SOMETHING, especially at this particular show which is fairly large.
I think it will be quite a while before I go to any gunshow again.

Was it jam packed with people? I was going to go but didn't want to hassle with lines and jostling.

It was jam packed with people but as LSK said, some selling and little buying. Highly disappointing.

I got the same impression ya'll did. Been going for many years, and this was the worst show I have been to. Older smith revolvers were almost non-existant, and older Rugers were even worse.

I agree,

I went there looking for 3 or 4 specific items. couldn't find most of what I was looking for. nor was there much in the way of carry in guns for sale.

Hilight for me was getting in when the doors opened(even though i was clear back at hall B when the line started moving in) and finding my bull barrel rock river upper that I've been waiting 6 months to find.

So even though I couldn't find the majority of what I went there for, I'm still thankful my varmint model AR is now complete.

This is the exact same thing that happened at the last Rose City Gun Show in POrtland at the Expo Center.

Disappointing as hell. There were a couple of dealer tables that were big, and the rest looked like a bunch of half-assed garage sale leftovers.

And then there was annoying bastard at one table who kept igniting that loud as all get out stun gun in order to make people look his way.

Ugh, makes me never want to attend another one.

Do they allow ammo at the Reliant show now? I moved away from the Houston area 4 years ago and at that time - no ammo was allowed in the door. I always considered it a "collectors" show and went to look - not buy.

You had to go to the show at the Brown Convention Center or Pasadena or Conroe to buy ammo.

Yep. they had ammo. Also had it at the last Reliant show, too.

I prefer the Pasadena shows, same gun vendors, less people, less junk, less space and maybe a good deal or two if you look.

It's not just in your neck-of-the-woods, the last dozen Atlanta area shows I have gone to have been worth missing. I guess my problem is I usually have 2 or 3 specific items in mind and they are all on this forum so that just tell me to do business with you fine folks.
