Since reloading 9mm ammo with cast bullets is so cheap (specially compared to .22 rimfire), how about a J frame with a 4" barrel and adjustable sights? A 2" or 3" with adj sights would make a fine trail gun. Blued and or stainless. I could handle a 9mm K frame with a 4" skinny barrel and adj sights too!

I think J frame would be too light for 9mm, but a 4" K frame? Heck yeah! 547 is pretty much unobtainium now.

They should be able to make a scandium J frame chambered in 9mm (like the M&P 340) since .357 Mag and 9mm share the same max PSI and similar cartridge diameters.

If they made a "340" M&P no-lock chambered in 9mm I would buy one in a heartbeat. This wouldn't even be much of a stretch for them to build--the cylinders would need a different chambering and the barrel would have to be 0.002" smaller. Plus they're losing out to Ruger who makes an LCR in 9mm.

Some time back S&W made a 942 for Wiley Clapp. Wiley reported the recoil as being snappy. I can well imagine that.

Two words. Taurus and Ruger
Taurus makes a 5-shot 9mm revolver similar to a J-frame called a model M905.
Ruger makes the LCR in a 9mm revolver.
I know some folks don't like Taurus, but I have a couple and have had no problems with them.
Same with the Rossi guns I own.
