How about an AR15 style rifle for a .30-06 length cart.

It'd be dern nice to have an AR style rifle that's action is long enough for .30-06 Spr, .35 Whelan, etc. maybe 1 long enuff for .375 H&H or .375 Ruger. I know I know, it might probably will not happen, but think of the handloads, accuracy that could be obtained.

We are impressed with our daughter's WhiteOak Precision AR in .223., and wonder why the same flawless functioning & accuracy can't be obtained in at least a decent medium bore rifle cartridge.

About a year ago I read an article about a modular AR15 type rifle that, by changing components, could accomodate various lengths of cartridges. If I recall correctly the article had photos of it being configured for 223, 308 and 30-06. It seems to me it was in the Guns and Ammo AR Rifle annual.

That was Cobb Manufacturing. They were bought up by Bushmaster. Supposedly their products are being integrated into the Bush lineup, but it has been 2 years and nothing has come of it.

many companies are making ARs in about every imaginable caliber....9mm,.45, .40, 10mm, .22, .17, rem .17, .308, .270, even .338 lapua.....

Several companies that build AR-type .308 caliber platforms can build rifles that accomodate the Winchester "Super Shorts", which very closely mimic the chamberings like the 35 Whelen and .375 H&H ballistically.
