How do I adjust the front sight on my M&P15-22

I bought a MAKO AR15 Carry Handle for my M&P15-22
and I've had to raise the rear sight on it to the max and
it's still an inch or so low at 30 yards. I need to lower the
front sight but the manual doesn't say how or which way.
Hope someone here can help.

Forgot how the M16 works, Dano?

Front sight adjusts with the tip of a bullet. Unfortunately a .22LR bullet won't work, but a 5.56mm round will. Or a punch. Or a dedicated M16 sight adjustment tool found at every gun show.

Righty tighty, leftie loosie works here too. Clockwise tightens, lowers the front sight, raises the point of impact.

I'm concerned what the MAKO is doing. I have a stadard handle on mine and didn't need to crank it to max or nor lower the front post much. Zeroed at 50 yards.

I was one of the lucky ones that had an M14 Chuck
and never had to fool with the front sight on any of the
ones I was issued.
I do remember that we had to use a cartridge case to
make the adjustment but I've slept a few times since
then and couldn't remember which way to turn it to lower
the sight. This weekend, I'll lower the back and the front
enough to give me some elevation to play with.

while we got this one going, how do you remove the front sight post? i wanted to switch it out for another size. I see the push pin but it didn't release it, and turning it just resulted it in locking into one of the four 90 degree positions.

Just keep unscrewing it. 90° at a time unless you have the 4-prong tool.

Or just use something pointy to keep the pin pressed down while you turn the post. Although the tool will probably make it a lot quicker.

Yours? I want one BAD but one a Parole Officer's salary,
I just can't justufy the expense. Saved the pic though.

Yeah, mine. Carried one every day for two years. Glad to have the M16 in RVN, though, 440 rounds was our basic load. No way to carry that much 7.62mm and still walk!

With the M16, you needed the extra ammo. I was lucky
enough to have a Commander that bucked the system and
some of us got to keep our M14's. I shot the M16 on the
range in Nam though and it jammed. Cleaned it and it
jammed. To be honest, I'd have been scared to death to
have had to carry that POS anywhere. Never had a jam with
the M14 no matter how dirty it was and I put 1000's of rounds
thru one.
No, with all due respect Chuck, I consider the fact that I'm alive
today, owed to my Colonel who allowed me to keep my
M14. God bless him!
