As the title says i want to detail strip the .22 compact, but can't seem to find a video or schematic anywhere for the smaller gun. There are plenty for the full size however. Does anyone have details on how to accomplish this?

For those that will ask why.
1) i want to clean it better than a field strip will do.
2) I want to reassemble it without the manual safety.

I have read all the old posts and none have details on how to do it, they are filled with useless information that doesn't ever answer the original question.

As for the removal of the safety, I am aware why it is there, this is a range toy and the safety lever is in the way, I have to adjust my grip to shoot the gun. When trying to use the slide lock, I can't do so without engaging the safety, again because it is in the way.
The solution is to remove it.

However I am not in a hurry to just tear into the gun and have springs go flying because I don't know what to watch for. And if something does fly out I can't find a schematic to see where it came from or order a new one if needed.

There's nothing I hate worse than searching for a video to detail strip/disassemble a gun, only to find out it's a how-to on field stripping the pistol, which is NOT detailed disassembly. Grrrr.

Here's a couple of videos on detailed disassembly of the M&P22 Compact.

I've stripped the slide before and it's not so bad, but watching the video convinced me I'll NEVER do the frame ;)

My S&W MP Compact 22 is the only "non-Glock" I have. One of the things I really like about Glock - how easy they are to work on.

Thank you!!!!! :)

This is exactly what I have been searching for.
This will allow me to do what I have planned.

Ok, I finally got the job completed. The gun no longer has the mag safety or manual safety.

Again a big "Thank You" to ScottS for the video's showing how to accomplish this task.

I had one small issue (because the gun is designed to have a manual safety), in the second video at 5:06 you hear the guy say "there goes that little spring I was telling you about" as he shows the spring that falls out without the safety lever in place to hold it.
The spring he is describing fits into the cutout on the rear pin, to keep it from coming out and that spring is held in place by the manual safety lever.

You can either leave the spring out and hope the pin doesn't walk out, cut the wings off the manual safety and reinstall the body of it or I used a small magnet to hold it in place.
The frame is plastic and the block (where hammer and sear are housed) that the spring is set into is metal so I found a 1/4"x1/4"x1/16" magnet to set in that space where the safety lever used to hold the spring. I'll link the magnet I used at the bottom, if you find them elsewhere buy them where ever you can.

This far I have not had any issues with it, it fires when it is supposed to and if you keep you finger off the trigger it doesn't fire. I am very happy with the results.
I kept the parts that I removed so with 15 minutes effort I can put it back to stock condition if needed.

Thank you again for the help.

This is the magnet I used to hold spring in place.
