Need to replace the rear sight (just the blade) on my M66 2 1/2 incher and an older M28 Highway Patrolman... is this a major undertaking? Should I let a pro do it? Opinions please...
I suppose if you're mechanically inclined, then you can do it yourself. However, if you're at all nervous, let a pro do it... it should be cheap. If you're doing it yourself, make sure you buy a blade that comes with a windage screw and nut. And when you do it, make sure you don't lose the tiny plunger / spring when you disassemble it.
It's something that you can do if you are very handy with tools, can work with small parts, have the necessary tools, and have the replacement parts. If you've never done it before it can be a challenge.
Having it done for you really depends on how much the 'smith will charge and whether he has done it before. He could screw it up just as badly as you can.
