How do you load your speed strips?

With a J-frame, 2 each with 5 rounds with the empty space next to the tab; K-frame, 6 rounds each.

I load all six in two Bianchi speed strips. I carry these two strips in two Dillon IHL speed strip pouches with my 642 at all times. I can reload with the strip full as fast as four or five in it. I like having the extra round. Also the last round next to the tab actually gives me a handle to hold on to the way I grasp it. I also practice quite a bit with the strips since I have not been able to find a way to carry my Safariland speeloaders.TC

Lately I've been carrying the Tuff strips loaded with 8 rounds.

I see the advantages of the 4 round loading but I stick with what's been working for me for quite a few years.

I always loaded all 6. Partly because I never needed any additional purchase on the strip to make it work, partly because you can never have too much ammo and partly because my BUG had a pony on the side.

I never had to use it under fire, but I drilled with it regularly and until they started to get old and brittle or wore out they always worked reliably. Off-side pants pocket, off-side shirt pocket (or sport coat pocket) or both in plain clothes. One of each and off-side jacket pocket in uniform. In the outermost garment in any case. There was also one in a pouch on the ankle holster for my BUG.

I don't worry about the extra round. I carry 5 in my strong side pocket. Leaving a space between 2 and 3 makes the first 2 load easier and faster. It's also much faster to move the gun to your weak hand, push through the cylinder and hold it in your weak hand and load with your strong hand...snap it closed and switch back...try it, I bet you shave off 3-4 seconds.

Mas knows how...already been posted but just in case you missed it....:)

I've always thought the name was a bit of an oxymoron, Speed- Strip. Slow--Strip, is more like it, LOL. ;)

Let's face it. If you need to reload, it's not good.:o The fact that our 5, or 6(or 7/8?) didn't do the job means we're not in good shape. I think that speedloaders of your choice ought to be the go-to, without any reservation. If we've successfully 'got off the X', sought cover, and had the seconds and presence of mind....okay, whip one out and do a tac-reload. If we're missing any part of that equation...dump what remains in exchange for the fresh, full load from your loader.

Besides the several belt carriers available, a couple loose loaders in the pocket is workable. They're easy to grab, and you can instantly tell which way they're oriented. Of course, that's assuming they're Comp series rigs, or SL V's. I wouldn't try that with HKS. I'm not familiar with Dade's but perhaps someone else here is.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but I'd just encourage you to think a bit on what I've espoused. ;)
