I have been on the fence regarding ordering the new S.L. Variant speedloaders from Japan. I have heard the buying experience is OK, but I have not heard anything about the performance and durability of these new ones compared to the old German made ones. I have some German made ones and they are really good. I did hear something about the cartridge spread not being adjustable on the new ones but the website for them says the cartridge spread is adjustable.

I think it was Guns and Gear just did a video review on speedloaders. Believe he wasn’t too favorable on those.

Chris Baker at Lucky Gunner (blog/lounge) includes them in his recent review of speedloaders and strips.
If the manufacturer website claims something mechanically different than the review then its worth asking the if there has been a running change.

I have them for J, K and 7rd L frames. They are NOT spread-adjustable like the originals with the threaded center button. But otherwise they look, feel and operate the same.

I really like the design, but I worry the tiny yellow clips will break over time. Also when carrying in a pocket or soft speedloader case the bullets can get "out of straight" so you might need to wiggle them a little more to load.

My absolute favorite loaders are the Jetloaders, but they don't offer a 7 round version. These SLVariants are a close second for me.
I own HKS, 5Star, Jetloader, Speedbeez, Safariland Comp2 and SLVariant.
