Hello everyone.

Over the years I've owned several aluminum and stainless frame S&W 45, 59, and 69 series autos from the 80's and 90's and wonder if anyone knows up till what year these were made ?

The past few years I've had mostly polymer guns like Glock, Spfld. XD, Taurus, Kahr, Ruger, etc. but have recently gone back to the metal frame autos and just bought a like new S&W two tone 457 and a like new 6906.

Thanks for any info on production dates you may have.

Randy.

My understanding is they are still available, but usually as part of a large (law enforcement agency) order. They are also sometimes seen from the discount seller CDNN.

Thanks for the reply. Hard to believe they would still be making them since the Sigma and M&P series have come out but like you say for a large police or military contract maybe they would.

They are in the latest CDNN catalog for 329.00 but those were all used guns.

The like new 6906 I received today was made in May 1994.

the one I received from CDNN was made in 2006, according to S&W cs.

Yep 6906.

Looks good.

The writing / stamping on the slide & frame is different than my 1994 which has a serial # of VAS. Your's looks more laser etched and mine is deeply stamped in.

What are the first 3 of that serial # ?
