How many are working outside of their degree/field??

I am just wondering how many of you have a degree in one thing (accounting, etc.) and are doing something entirely different.

I was a Pawnbroker/Gun Dealer for several years but decided to go to college when I was 30.

I have a Master's Degree in Accounting and am a Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner. I spent a couple of years in Public Accounting and 4 years as an Internal Auditor for the Hotel company I work for now.
I took a job within the company a little over 2 years ago as the Chief Maintenance Engineer (read high level toilet plunger here) at one of our hotels. Much as I liked the IA job I got burnt out spending 300+ days on the road a year.

Sad to say...but plunging toilets pays more and is a higher pay grade...go figure

My (older) brother had an education degree. He was going to be a History teacher, but since you need to know someone on the school board to get a teaching job here in North East Pennsylvania, he was a only a substitute for a few years. He was passed over for a few jobs, even though he was recommended by a retiring teacher to fill his position at the high school we graduated from. He is now an Air Force Meteorologist doing Flight Weather.

Me... I'm fresh out of the service, which I joined out of high school, so I don't have a degree. I am NOT however, using any of the skills I learned while in the Air Force... Not much work as an Aerial Gunner in the civilian world! I'm going to re enlist soon (Reserve: in-flight refueling), but I'm also going to school in the fall.

I have a Bachelor's in Business Admin, half of a law degree, and a tiny bit of an MBA. I'm a full time homemaker.

I miss the slumlord business.

Got a BA back in 1975. Since then I have been a social worker, cop, construction project manager, hospital administrator, pharmaceutical rep and for the last couple years I have been working in my field, hence the screen name. Joe

I have a BA in Christian Studies with emphasis in Biblical Studies and Christian Ministries, and about 40 hours of credit towards a Master of Divinity in Church History and Historical Theology. In addition, I read and write 3 languages besides english, and I stock shelves at Lowe's

I started off with a degree in music education, instrumental.

Started teaching instrumental and vocal music.

Then got master degree in school administration. Did a number of years as an elementary school principal.

Then went to work for a major oil company as a petroleum landman...leased land for exploration. Did a "career" there, got laid off...back to being a school principal. Did more years as that and then retired.

After retirement, drove a school bus and taught elementary music part time in a private Catholic school.

Now, nothing! Blissful nothing!

I worked 29 years in IT and am now semi-retired by choice. Now I sell cell phones and electronics at the local Wally World, again by choice.

I majored in Vertebrate Paleontology because one of our ranches has a number of famous Dinosaur fossils sites.

I now manage the ranch and they are still diggin' old bones.

I have about half of a chemistry degree, half of a math degree and all of a BA in management. It was the shortest way to a degree in the completion program I was in. I've been in IT for thirty-one years and my title is "Network Engineer". As someone said, "God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform"*.
