How many are working outside of their degree/field??

I need 2 units to have a BS degree in Wildlife management. In 1972 I took a temporary full time job not to exceed 11 months as a physical science aid at USGS. I am now an electronics technician with them and they have not been able to drive me off yet. I just got my 40 year pin a couple of months ago and I am planning on retiring in 8 months.

I was an English major and now I'm a software engineer.

But, writing is a hobby that I'm trying to ramp up into something that pays due to the H1B onslaught. I have a feeling that my liberal arts degree may end up paying the bills after all. BTW, that's a scary feeling!

Let's see; National honor society but decided to not go to New England Institute of technology and spent 3 years after High school learning the cabinetmaking finishing trade. Joined the Air Force and spent 20 years as a firefighter, accumulated over 80 semester hours but never bothered to get my associates degree. Retired and went back to finishing cabinets for three years. My shoulder couldn't take it anymore (repetitive motion injury) and took a job with a major corporation and I'm now basicaly a glorified HVAC installer.

Graduated from Mortuary college in 76 & retired from a electical utility company in 07.

Psychology, yea, "You want fries with that?" I drive a truck too. Majored in Lunch in HS. Got a good job local here in So Cal tied mostly to construction.

I've got a degree in History, which is right up there with Philosophy and Political Science on the uselessness scale. Currently I'm am sitting at the front desk and answering the phones because the boss is gone today and the ladies who should be doing the job are on an hour and a half lunch break. When they get back all be back to making maps, doing deed research, assigning addresses, etc.
