How many factory 5906 in 9x21?

There's a lettered factory 5906 in 9x21 on the big auction block. The letter states that the advertised gun was an overrun of a 50 gun order destined for Italy, but there's no info on how many actual overrun guns were released to the US market.

Anyone have further info on these?

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for definitive information. My experience of surplus, overrun, and "held in a bonded warehouse for years" guns is that the history is often murky and people prefer to bury/obscure the truth for a laundry list of reasons.
