How many folks here have a 620?

I realize these weren't made too long, but they are seen far less frequently than I would suspect. It's not like they were a one year gun. I always thought they were neat simply because they are ejector shroud L frames. I liked the flash chrome hammer and trigger as well, like earlier 686's. I ended up getting two of them because they were being given away, LNIB, on GB back around 2010; about 1/3 the cost of a 686 MG...which I have on order now...thank you Lipsey.

At any rate for those not familiar, here's what I'm talking about:

The double action on these are a treat. Shoots like this at 15 yards with 158's

Am I one of a small handful of 620 fans?

Been looking for one. Also a 619 but those appear to be virtually unknown

Yes! Add to that the 520 of this generation. All once given away! That said, even then the 619 was a hen's tooth.

My Mom used to own a 620, but it's no longer in the family. I didn't shoot it much, but visually, I preferred it over the 686, since I've never liked the look of full-length lugs. I do have to say, it was the worst rusting gun I've ever seen. It developed horrible pitting under the grips in a very short amount of time, as well as on the topstrap near the sight channel, and the sideplate, and we lived in a dry climate, and no other guns in our collection at the time had any rust issues whatsoever. I think the metal was just bad on that particular gun.

Not often do I hear of a Smith model I've never heard of before. But the 520/620 & 619 are some.

Made somewhat recently as I see the Hillary hole.

Interesting.

I picked one up this winter but haven’t gotten to the range to shoot. Seems to be lightly used. I like the barrel profile without the full under lug. Might still have to find a new 686+ MG.
