I have been reading lots of the post of this formum and find it very interesting, informative. There is one thing that I was wondering. After all the posting on what firearms, what methods and why would be used in the defense of their home. I have one question

No discharge, only menacing display, to confound what's now called a "home invasion." Ended quietly, would-be invaders routed....

It's a beautiful thing. The baseball bat and the dog prevented me from to having to display.

The point is not having to, but having the ability to if necessary.
or better to have a gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it

....does the incredible noise from racking a Model 97 Winchester at 3AM from a dark corner of the porch count as "display"????

Something sure made them fellers in the driveway take off in a hurry without saying as much as 'gotta go'!!!

I had to use my shotgun on a got that got into my house. He was out the door before I could swing it in his direction

Many years ago twice. Too long and dramatic to recall, both cases involved women and sore losers. Once haveing one nearby and my confidence saved my hide without haveing to pull it. In the other I kicked ass and then shot over his head after he got outside. So my answer is no, still I know it saved me once.

I've found that a discharge isn't necessary to get the Jehovah's Witnesses off the front porch on Saturday mornings.

I have not had to.

Have plenty if needed. For me it adds up to a big peace of mind issue.

For any unauthorized entry ... It would transform into a handy tool to protect myself, family, and stuff I own (not necessarily in that order).

Sat in the living room years ago,gun in hand, waiting on the guy on the porch to make an entrance. He left. I went back to bed.

After all the posturing one what firearms, what methods and why would be used in the defense of their home. ...
What was the reason for chosing the word "posturing"?

It sounds a little troll-like to me; I hope that is not your intention.

Rereading the sentence, it looks like a word (or two) is left out(?) Maybe I just don't understand the meaning(?)

No doubt...can't quite follow the statement either. I know the question, but what is the feller trying to say there?
If I don't follow, I won't answer.
