Just wondering what the average is for this Forum.

I know I used to eat fast food two or three times a week. The last few months I have dropped off to zero.

All the talk about raising the minimum wage to $15 got me thinking I would have to cut back. Then I asked myself, why eat there at all?

It's not that I begrudge anyone making more money, it's just that I can't see paying even current prices for something of such marginal quality.

I usually stop at McDonalds on the way to work and have a couple of hash browns or some chicken McNuggets and a cup of coffee while reading a book.

I've got three major highways plus a large street to travel on the way to work, which gives me LOTS of opportunities to be late because of traffic. Because of that, I leave at least 45 minutes earlier than I would if I worked closer in. I may get there an hour early or ten minutes early. During a couple of blizzards I was late by about fifteen minutes.

That being the case, I'm NOT sitting in the office waiting for my shift to start, and I'm not just sitting in the car, so that pretty much leaves McDonalds.

Unless you count pizza I eat just about zero fast food. Less than once a month on average. I just don't care that much for it. On the rare occasion that the family is out somewhere at mealtime and a McDonalds or something similar is all that's available, we'll grab a snack to tide us over, but that's about it. $30 for the four of us to eat a meal of THAT poor quality? No thanks...

I really don't eat at those "burger" places but maybe once a year. Only then if I have to and can't find a Popeyes chicken or Churches but they're all across town. I like some fried bird. I made Tenders today.

Pizza. Once a week. But it's my friends place and it's pretty danged good.

Pulled pork or ribs. I have my haunts. I'm not gonna hassle with that stuff at home just for me. Plus I discovered my old friend has a gig right around the corner on weekends. He knows his stuff.

Yum, I think I'm gonna get me some pulled pork tomorrow.

Edit, I just got back from the BBQ and think I'm gonna burst. Good stuff.

I would say once a month, when I travel I eat well, too well. Fast food is now only for road trips that I want to get in and out. Drove 7 hours to NY over thanksgiving, stopped at McDonalds on way up and had a double cheeseburger, on the way back brought a Turkey sandwich. That was last time.

All I know is there are a lot of fast food places every where I go. A town may not have a real grocery store, but they will have 3 or 4 fast food places. Also given the increase in the average rear end around town, those fast food places are doing a booming business, selling fried grease, carbohydrates, and corn syrup.

But the most amazing thing is how many donut places there are in this area. There are almost as many donut places as there are police officers.

I used to like chicken McNuggets....until I watched a documentary titled "Super Size Me"
It showed how they make them...they kill the chicken, it looked like it was electricity. Then a machine rubbed all the feathers off and a funny looking hook thing pulled out most of the entrails. Then they cooked the entire body, beak, feet, head and all by steam. The cooked chickens went into this big cauldron to boil. It turned in to a gray slurry. Then it was drained, partially dried, dyed to look like chicken meat and formed with a press into the basic McNugget shapes.
Dude...you gotta be kidding me!!!!! I used to put that in my mouth.

I like what I like. Yes, I eat fast food plenty and I'm a burger fanatic.

I don't really like Chicken nuggets, but I do find it funny that people don't like them when they learn that there's nothing but chicken in them. What did you think was in there?
