how much ammo per year do you fire?

In a slow year probably 500 rounds. In a busy year probably about 5,000. On average over the last 20 or so years probably 2,500 a year.

2012: 20,570 Rounds Total
.22: 15,478
.38/357: 2,470
9mm: 2,551
.44mag: 71

(Yes, I keep a spreadsheet).

I run through 10,000-15,000 rounds a year in all caliber. Of course that was before I took up Trap and Skeet.

About 15,000 rounds. I find myself using more and more .380 and .22LR than .40 or .45 these days as the price of ammo has recently increased significantly. I put 250 .45 rounds through my XDs this morning - an expensive session at the range.
