How much ammo to keep on hand?

Try to have enough ammo on-hand that you open a can and say, "I don't remember buyin' that !?!" :D

Pulled out a can from under the bed once & found among other things a tub with 250-ish rounds of .357 handloads I'd completely forgotten about.;)

The general consensus seems to be "not enough". Since I do own a number of "oddball" calibre revolvers (think 0.455 Webley and 32-20 revolver), plus a few that require 30 Mauser (semi-autos) I do have a reasonable number of heads and cases. Plus a reasonable number of other calibres that are a little more modern. Numbers? I ran out of fingers to count them on quite a few years ago. Dave_n

The only way to tell if you have enough ammo is if the floor buckles or the foundation starts to crack. Till then you dimply dont have enough ammo.

I'll put it this way, I have enough to last for about a year of heavy shooting and the ability to reproduce the same for the next four years should the need arise. I'm still not done prepping.

With talk of another ammo shortage come election time, I was wondering how much ammo you guys keep around. Do you stock up on fmj or sd or both? Was the shortage last election sd, fmj, or both? I have a couple hundred fmj sitting around, but I'm not sure if that's enough. How much of sd and fmj ammo do you guys keep around? Thanks!
