I have a Shield .40 with a 9mm bbl 2 9mm magazines, 2 .40 magazines, and a crossbreed supertuck holster. I still can't get over the trigger and am not a fan of it because of that. How much would this be worth? How much can I expect to get if I was to sell it?

Think the bigger question is what do you want for it, price you paid plus extra barrel and mags? Put a price on it then if no takers consider keeping it or lowering price, we cannot buy it and sell it. Just looked at gunbroker and their are 5-6 shield 40s listed auction ending within 30 min to 2 days all prices $599 with zero bids on them, granted you have the extra barrel and mags to help as well. But it's all going to come down to what's your selling price?

What was the purpose of purchasing 9mm bbl for your .40? Was the benefit from doing that?

I hate to say it, but i believe you will regret it.

I couldnt get use to mine either at first. I've owned too many Blocks and too many 1911's. But since it has grown on me, i no longer own anymore Blocks. So that just goes to show how I feel about it. And I dont miss those Blocks at all. Probably because if i wanted one, i could easily find someone selling one. Theres another reason, i dont own one anymore. Too many people now realize the Block is over hyped and over priced.......Try finding a Shield sitting on a site for sell. IMO

I'm with Smitty. How many rounds have been through it? Enough to consider the trigger broken-in?

My SW99's tend to have a gritty trigger similar to what people say about the M&Ps, and I started having severe Glock-lust. I would group more poorly than I liked with my 990Lc, then hit the bullseye with my buddy's G27 on the first shot.

One day he let me borrow the G27, and I shot 100 rds through it and my 990Lc, each. I thought the conclusion was going to be, "Time to buy a Glock." Instead, I found I liked my 990Lc better, and with a focused effort, my grouping with the G27 was only slightly better than with my 990Lc. I had to apologize to my pistol. :D

Uh, why not just "fix" the trigger?

While there are a number of standard ways to improve it, you're not limited to just dropping in APEX kits. Though I will admit, a full-custom trigger job by an expert gunsmith might be overkill on a Shield.

Here in the northwest I've seen people asking 6 to 7 hundred for just the basic set up. Really hard to find right now.

Sounds like $500 asking price to me. Hopefully you haven't taken a Dremel or files to it.

My local dealer sells them for $449 and they don't last very long. You should be in the $500 range with your extras.

What any gun is worth today is a moving target.

Depending on what Congress is prepared to do will ultimately decide the value of a weapon.

Currently, Shield 9mm in Utah are selling on a local gun exchange website for $750 and 40 caliber for just under $700.

I would guess when gun talks are no longer center stage in Washington D.C. and another hot topic assumes our interest gun prices will come down.

I have noticed when my Congressman had a phone in town hall meeting last week 10,000 of us listened in and for the callers that were able to speak to the Congressman not one mentioned guns. Everyone in my area is concerned about military budget cuts considering Hill Air force Base is one of the larget employers in Utah.

It will take time but interest will shift assuming we don't have another Sandy Hook anytime soon and as public interest drops so will gun and ammo prices.

However if we have another tragedy with children prices will remain high and more anti gun talks will ring out in Washington D.C.

I have a good supply of 9mm

I plan when 22 LR drops back down to $20 a brick to load up.

YIKES!!! I could have two for that price and out the door. Got mine last April when they first came out. They (LGS),have also held that price since.

$20. a brick is still too much. I'm waiting for below $10. I still have plenty on had and can wait a loooong time. :D

Unfortunately I don't think we are going to see $10 per brick 22 again.

Gunbroker is totally insane. Recently a record was broken when a person paid $1, 000 for 10 bulk boxes (525) of Federal 22.

Almost 20 cents a round for 22.

I would rather throw rocks at my target than shoot 22 ammo at 20 cents a plink.

As for Shields selling for $750 I am thankful I landed my Shield last April for retail.

I did buy a Ruger Hunter Stainless 6.8 inch fluted bull barrel recently but I think I did ok at $485.

During these times I refuse to buy guns and ammo at panic prices.

Bought and sold 4 of them (9mm & 40 s&w) $600 easy. Check armslist.com for your local prices.

This week, Monday 3-11-13, the ones that are selling are around $550 on Gunbroker. They were 650 to 700+ a month ago. The price will likely level off to around 500 to 525, in the near future.

I don't know what it is worth, but I guarantee you it is worth more now than when they become more readily available. :)
