How much would you pay for a model 19

Is that a blue 19?

19-3 $399 about a year ago...98% +

Is that a blue one?? If so, they are running $500 to $600 here in Virginia now.

Too high in my opinion. I've seen model 19s for $375 to $425 around here.
I do think they are late 70's or early 80's guns that I've seen.

BTW..Weren't the 19's the ones with forcing cone issues when used with 357 mag, leading to S&W finally developing the 686 L-frame? Maybe I'm thinking of a different model.

I sold a 1960 Model 19-no dash last week on the forum classifieds for $850. It was in a box (probably not its original box) with accessories, etc. Condition was 99%. Buyer and seller were both happy. It was sporting original above-average grain diamond targets, though.

This is consistent with what I posted. I think most here are not making any distinction between dash numbers and whether or not it is a 4 screw model or a 3 screw model. Perhaps to some that is irrelevent and all they care about is whether it is pinned and recessed. That's fine, but I think it does affect the pricing, meaning some of the price comparisons being posted aren't really representative of a 4 screw, no dash version. Then again, maybe I'm the one that doesn't know what he's talking about. God knows I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I agree

I agree, I think the local dealers are "very proud" of the ones they have. Yes, if you use full power, 125 grain bullets you will eventually wear out/crack the forcing cone. They were made originally for 158 grainers. The ones I have are limited to .38 Special +Ps.

I'm not a S&W expert, and I don't even play one on tv, but I think you make a valid point. I would certainly expect to pay more for a four screw than a three screw for any model. Often, but not always, the lower the dash number, the more desirable the revolver.

I believe you got a heck of a deal, especially if it is a pinned gun. I think that Model 63 is one of the most desirable little guns S&W ever made. It is one of the "most-funnest" guns to just shoot and plink around with that I ever owned.

Thanks Redlevel, I just checked for sure, and yes it is pinned. And it is alot on fun to shoot. It shoots better than I do.

I have a 19-3 and I only paid 325 a few yrs ago at a gun show. I love mine. I used it to get my carry permit. Its a great shooter.

4" 19-3.

Bought this one today, $375.00. It is rebuilt, refinished in Nickel and reconditioned to like new including an action job with New TT and TH. Similar condition in original finish would have been around $200.00 higher.

I am in CA also.I think $650.00 for a 19 no dash is a very good price for CA.I just bought a 19-7 LNIB for $600.00.We don't see to many 2.5" model 19's here in CA.I would snag it up real fast....:)
