Just got a bag of 1000 cases 5.56 cases from a friends dad, mixed stuff. Was sorting thru it and found several Lake City from '73. Just thought it was neat to find brass as old as me.

I have some M1 Carbine brass from 1952 and maybe earlier and a bunch of .38 Special brass picked up from an LAPD pistol range in the late 70's. I have no idea how many times some of that .38 Special brass has been loaded. When one developes a crack it get's tossed, otherwise they just keep on going. I have some WWII 30-06 brass but that does not get reloaded. Also have a 5" MK5 38 CAL shell dated 1/1944 that would have been used on a destoyer but I don't have anything that would use it.;)

My brass is all pre early 70's. OK... so granted... the have been just sitting sence the late 70's.. but still. Most of my 22jet brass is from the 60's.

Military 30-06 brass from 1934 to 1937, 1960 to 1974, military 38 Spl from 1968 to 1984 but the supply is shrinking. The military 38 Spl came from Minneapolis gun shows. Federal Cartridge is (was) headquarted in Anoka, MN.

I shoot with a person with 45ACP brass he's been shooting for DECADES.

Indoors he shoots 25 feet, Mouse Fart loads in his 1911.

Decades of use and he's really tough on the ten-ring.

Just having fun!!!!!!!!:):):)

I have and still reload some 45 auto stuff from 1918 and some vintage balloon head 45 auto rim stuff with the Peters headstamp. Also some balloon head 44 spl.

'73? A babe in the woods.

Started accumulating .45 ACP brass back in the '70's. MUCH of what I have and still load is military brass from the '40's, '50's and '60's.
Also mixed in there is a bunch of Super Vel. Don't see alot of that anymore.

No SMSgT, baby in the cradle. 1973, the party was in Udorn.

SSgt, Four years and I Quit

In 1973 the party was just outside Kadena AB, Okinawa on BC Street in Koza City.

MSgt, 21 years and I retired.

Most of my brass is from the early 1980's but I have at least 7,000 rounds of Nickel plated Remington in 38 special from the 1960's and still load and shoot the heck out of it - no problemo.

I see no reason that the age of the brass (assuming it's relatively modern brass) should make much of a difference. I believe the times it's been stretched and re-sized has more to do with its life. If you are not shooting hot loads it will last a very long time!

I am reloading 577 Snider brass from 1880s. Found a box of Dominion of Canada fired brass about 10 years ago and almost all are still serviceable. They are heavy walled brass and totally indestructible!

70 grains of FF - 500 grain bullet and a well padded shooting shirt.
