Just as the title says, How rare are 10 5/8ths 29-5 Silhouette models? I have seen plenty of 29-3's but I have never seen (or handled) a 29-4 or 29-5 Silhouette model. Are they any more valuable than the 29-3's?
Thanks,
Mark

I would say they are pretty rare, I had one, unturned, unfired, no ring at all, NIB and I traded if for a S/S double barreled 12 ga. wish I had kept it, they are very impressive when you handle them. The best I remember they were dropped in 1992. This was the only Smith that I ever got rid of. Jeff

Rare?

The 29-5 means the guns have the endurance package and a longer stop notch. What this translates to is the gun will stand up to a hot load of the Silhouette shooting game which the 29-3s had a problem withstanding! The rare gun of the 29 Silhouette guns would be a 29-3 with and "N" serial prefix!

The gun in the left case is an "N" serial prefix in a period correct presentation case. The gun in the right case is an "ABC" serial numbered gun in a period correct case. The gun is the middle is a well worn deer killer used every year!

I have a 29-5 that doesn't have the endurance package.
Is this rare?

Are you sure? I didn't think that was possible.

jcelect: Great pictures. The "ABC" serial numbered gun in a period correct case does not appear to have a space (be it a box or indentation) for tools. Do I see that correct? Of course, now you generated another question. How rare are the presentation cases for the 29-5's and "N" serial prefix guns?

Thanks all,
Mark

Yes I'm sure about that.
It's a 6 inch, full underlug, non fluted with the adjustable front sight.
Made in 1990 according to Smith.
Was purchased in Germany by a friend of mine new.
No endurance package.
